THACO INDUSTRIES invests in advanced technology to increase production capacity and supply OEM components for automotive body parts

With a sustainable development orientation, THACO INDUSTRIES has inaugurated the Automotive Chassis and Body Parts Plant, covering 1.5 hectares and employing advanced technology to reach an annual capacity of up to 800,000 product sets. The plant produces a wide variety of products, including body components for passenger cars, trucks, and buses, as well as chassis components, chassis frames, and mechanical parts. This enhances the localization rate and promotes the growth of Vietnam’s supporting industries.

The plant is intensifying investments in advanced production lines and equipment to provide high-quality products that meet the demand of domestic and export customers. The chassis production line features a vertical pressing machine capable of stamping products up to 12m long with a stamping force of up to 6,300 tons, incorporating automatic feeding and product retrieval technology. Additionally, there is a component stamping line with pressing forces ranging from 110 to 1,000 tons, along with a modern assembly line that facilitates the processing and assembly of chassis for trucks and pickup trucks.

At the production line for automotive body components such as: doors, bumpers, hoods, trunks, door…, the plant has invested in a tandem press line consisting of 4 hydraulic pressing machines with pressing forces ranging from 800 to 1600 tons, combined with automatic feeding robots to ensure optimal efficiency and high precision in each product. In addition, the plant is equipped with a passenger car hemming line featuring advanced technologies imported from Japan and South Korea, such as welding robots, sealing robot and hemming robots, which facilitate the quick and accurate processing of component details according to the customer’s requirements.

The plant emphasizes quality control from the initial stage of raw material input by performing mechanical property tests and analyzing the chemical composition of the billets using equipment such as a universal mechanical testing machine, ultrasonic metal testing machine, chemical composition testing machine, tensile testing machine, and durability testing machine, in accordance with standards EN 10130 and GB/T 3273 – 2015. Additionally, the plant inspects the size and appearance of the raw materials before they are stored and utilized in production, adhering to the material standards of each product. Thanks to a lean production process and stringent quality control aligned with the Quality Management System IATF 16949:2016, the plant guarantees compliance with the global technical standards of Kia and Mazda.

In the upcoming time, the plant will continue to invest in upgrading technology, developing high-quality products, and implementing digital transformation in manufacturing and business operations. Besides, it will strengthen cooperation to become the leading OEM manufacturer of automotive body components in Vietnam, deeply participating in the global value chain.
